- My vehicle has been stolen displaying my own, non-age-related vehicle registration mark (VRM), can I keep/retain it?

You should receive a letter advising that your application has been accepted. No retention certificate will be issued until 6 months from the date of theft has lapsed or the vehicle has been recovered. You will not be able to assign it to another vehicle within this time. This is said to be at the request of the police, as assigning the number to a new vehicle will harm their ability to easily recognise the stolen vehicle.
